Biamonti 192 – Sketches of songs with French and English text, second half 1798 – 1799
Nottebohm writes: “After the work on the concerto (page 42 [folio 21-recto]), some words appear on the composition of Goethe’s poem “Neue Liebe Neues Leben” and drafts of songs with English and French texts but the sketch of Goethe’s words does not allow any relation to the printed composition (Op. 75 n. 2).” [II Beethoveniana – chapter 46 page 481] For the English songs we find lyrics on folio 21-verse; 22-recto, 23-verso; certainly one is found on folio 24-recto of Grasnick 1; another could be at 25-recto; “Plaisir d’Aimer on folio 27-recto; perhaps a sketch on the 27th verse (line 1). After this we find no more songs.
