Biamonti 543 – Unused sketch for the Finale of the Seventh Symphony, autumn 1811 – June 1812. It is found among the sketches for the Seventh and Eighth Symphonies contained in the so-called Petter Sketchbook (named after its former owner Gustav Petter), dating from 1811–1812, described by Nottebohm (Zweite Beethoveniana, vol. II, p. 109).
It is located at the Beethoven-Haus, on page 9, staff 11, of the Petter Sketchbook.
Nottebohm writes in his book Zweite Beethoveniana: “Zum letzten Satz der Symphonie entwirft Beethoven zuerst folgendes Thema” (“For the final movement of the symphony, Beethoven first sketches the following theme”) According to the editor of the page: “To me, this is not a single sketch but two fragments for the study of the theme for the Finale; in fact, the second fragment does not begin at the start of the staff but halfway through, as if to distance it from the first part.”
