Biamonti 755 – Fugue sketches, including one “for harpsichord or organ,” 1819–1822
Biamonti 755 – Fugal sketches, including one “for harpsichord or organ,” dating from 1819 to 1822, are found in Notebook II, page 26 and following (Nottebohm II, p. 465), with no musical notation. Notebook II corresponds to Artaria 197. These fugues are dispersed throughout the notebook; for instance, the cited “fugue for harpsichord or organ” appears on page 45, line 5 and following. This notebook is the second of three from 1819 to 1822, as described by Nottebohm, who devotes an entire chapter (pp. 460–475) to them.
In addition to these unused sketches, the notebook contains drafts for works such as the Missa Solemnis, Op. 123, the Piano Sonata Op. 109, the Bagatelles Op. 119, Op. 107 No. 8, the Piano Sonatas Op. 110 and 111, and several sketches that may be associated with the Ninth Symphony.
