Further information from the Beethoven Music Research Center (January 2026): It is preserved in the Berlin State Library, Manuscript Artaria 201. The note is located—contrary to what Nottebohm writes, and consequently Biamonti—not on page 177 but on page 175, line 12. It is written in ink with a very fine hand. On the line below we find the sign for “lower octave”; therefore, the sketch was probably intended to be performed with the notes doubled an octave lower.
