Biamonti 835 – Theme Originally Intended for the Finale of the String Quartet in C-sharp Minor, Opus 131. May 1825 (March 1825 – May 1826, Nottebohm II, page 9). This sketch is held in Berlin at the Staatsbibliothek, in the volume titled Autograph 9 (folio 27 recto–verso). Autograph 9 is a Taschenbuch—a small notebook Beethoven used to carry in his pocket during walks. Sketches in these notebooks are typically written in pencil (some later traced in ink, possibly not by Beethoven himself), with very rapid and often hard-to-decipher handwriting.

Nottebohm writes: ”Die Hauptthemen des letzten Satzes des Quartetts in Cis-moll mussten einige Wandlungen durchmachen, bis sie so wurden, wie wir sie kennen. Der erste Entwurf zeigt noch gar keine Aehnlichkeit mit der gedruckten Form.”  “The principal themes of the final movement of the Quartet in C-sharp minor had to undergo several transformations before becoming what we know. The first draft shows no resemblance to the printed version.”

According to Johnson, Tyson, and Winter, Autograph 9 consists of six parts. Folio 27 belongs to Section II, which includes folios 17–35 and is dated to September–October 1825. Many ideas written in this notebook were later transferred and developed in the De Roda Skizzenbuch and the Kullak Skizzenbuch.
