This transcription appears as a supplement in the incomplete autograph manuscript of Beethoven’s Egmont music, preserved in Berlin.
- The piece was not published by Willy Hess in the Supplemente zur Gesamtausgabe (SBG). Hess explained that it “adds nothing new”, which is why it was excluded.

Nevertheless, it was later published in the new complete edition Beethovens Sämtliche Werke, Volume XII, Part 1 (Lieder und Gesänge), by G. Henle Verlag, Munich, 1990, on page 271.
