Hess 99 – March in F Major for Piano – ca. 1809. Transcription of the march WoO 18 (Hess 6), version without trio, circa 1809.

The sketches were described by Nottebohm, Vol. II, page 258, along with those for the Concerto Opus 73. This is a two-hand piano arrangement of the March for Military Orchestra, composed around 1809 and published around 1959 by Reinecke in Leipzig. (W. Hess in Neues Beethoven Jahrbuch, 1953–54, page 103.) The original manuscript is preserved in the library of the Paris Conservatory and was mentioned by Max Unger. (“Number 6,” Beethoven manuscrit 41)

In Reinecke’s Leipzig publication, the work is titled “Yorck’scher Marsch”, but it should not be confused with another march of the same name published in 1818–1819 by Schesinger in a collection of marches for the Prussian army, which is an adaptation made by others.
