Hess 205 – From the 26 Welsh Folk Songs, no. 14.

Hess 205 – From the 26 Welsh Folksongs, no. 14. I have identified it as the finale of an unknown elaboration of the folksong, from Beethoven Ms. 102 at the Paris Conservatoire, where it is identified as “fragment of an unknown movement for piano trio, in B-flat major, in 3/4 time, 14 concluding bars.” Cf. Max Unger’s reference in Neues Beethoven-Jahrbuch VI, Henry Litolffs Verlag, Braunschweig, 1935, p. 114-5. [Now in BN and, according to C/F, p. 229, is an abandoned coda of WoO 155 no. 14. Published by Hess in SBG, vol. XIV, 1971, p. 104. Catalogued by Biamonti under number 286, p. 284, where it is also described as “…conclusion for an unknown trio“.]
