Origin and Dating: The work was sketched between 1790 and 1792, during Beethoven’s final period in Bonn. All three sheets containing sketches for this cantata originate from this time.
Sketch Details:
- Sketch 1: Found on the “Fischhof” miscellanea sheet. Also includes sketches for the song Op. 75 No. 3, dated May 1790 (with a later sketch from 1793).
- Sketch 2: Located in the “Kafka – Skizzenkonvolut” miscellanea. Adjacent to sketches for WoO 67 variations, composed between 1790–1792.
- Sketch 3: Viennese sketch among sketches for WoO 113, known to be composed by March 1790.
