Hess 112 Roccos Goldarie, del 1806.

Hess 112 – Rocco’s Aria, 1806
This aria was removed in 1806, but a copy survives in Beethoven Autograph 26, folio 1, in Berlin. It corresponds closely to the 1805 version, except that the trumpets and timpani are omitted. It also features a different text (derived from Breuning) and small alterations in bars 35 and 79 of the second oboe.

It can therefore be assumed that this aria was originally intended for inclusion even in 1806. Any new complete edition should carefully note the numerous changes compared to the 1805 version. The aria was published in the piano reduction by Otto Jahn of the 1806 second version of Fidelio. The same piece is referenced on p. 52 of my work Fidelio [Published by Hess in SBG, vol. XIII, 1970, p. 137].
