Biamonti 242 – Fragments, Possibly Piano Studies (in C Minor), 1800
These fragments are found in Landsberg 7, pages 129 (lines 4–5), continuing on page 130 (lines 3–6), corresponding to pages 119 and 120 of Mikulicz. They span 23 measures and date to the year 1800.
Both fragments are written in C minor:
- The first is in 4/4 time,
- The second in 2/4, and appears to be a sketch for the finale of a piano piece.
According to Mikulicz, these fragments cannot be associated with any known work Beethoven was studying or composing at that time. Their purpose remains speculative—perhaps technical exercises, thematic explorations, or discarded ideas.
