WoO 217 – Biamonti 66. Minuet in F major, probably dated 1794, possibly composed during Beethoven’s early years in Vienna, for piano. Two parts, measures 16/9 and a trio, also in two parts, measures 8/4, all with a refrain. Unfinished in harmonies. Published by Henle Verlag: “Neuausgabe, 1957 der Urtextausgabe der Bagatellen Beethovens” by O.v. Irmer, page 217. And by Willy Hess in 1965 in the ninth volume of the Supplemente zur G.A. The autograph is preserved in a private collection. The photocopy is kept at the Beethoven Archive in Bonn.

Origin and publication: Probably composed in 1794 in Vienna. The first edition was published posthumously in 1957 by G. Henle Verlag, Munich-Duisburg. According to Douglas Johnson, Beethoven used the transcription paper of the work continuously for several years (“the longest period of continuous use of any of the early papers”), which makes an exact dating difficult. Due to the characteristics of the handwriting, Johnson suggests a date around 1794 (Johnson/Fischhof Vol. 1 p. 98, 102).
